Southside Art Center seeks a full-time (35 hr/wk) Community Skills Trainer for its Community Volunteerism Departments in Sacramento and Auburn. The Community Skills Trainer provides support and training to participants with developmental challenges. High School Diploma or equivalent required. 1 year experience working with persons with disabilities preferred. Salary Begins at $10 per hour advancing to $10.50 per hour after a 6-month introductory period. Clean DMV, reliable car and auto insurance required for this position. Immediate openings in Sacramento/Elk Grove & Auburn/Roseville/Grass Valley Passage Departments for ASTs effective 9/26/11 until filled.

If you are energetic and can think on your feet, Southside Art Center has openings in the PASSAGE for Adaptive Skills Trainers (ASTs) support/train adults with developmental disabilities in an individualized programs in our Sacramento/Elk Grove or Auburn/Roseville locations (program staff work between either Sacramento and Elk Grove OR Auburn and Roseville at any time). Applicants must have DMV printout and a reliable insured vehicle. Minimum 1-2 years experience with individuals with behavioral challenges preferred. Some college preferred. Knowledge of and access to computer and internet/email access required to transmit daily through yearly reporting tasks (most written tasks in this job will be done through word processing/email). Adaptive Skills Trainers work M-F, 8-4 36 hours/week (Monday & Friday 6.5 hour day; 2 days a week are 8 hour days & 1 day a week is a 7 hour day between between Tuesday and Thursday based on site). Starting wage is $11.80/hour with health insurance on the first of month after 60 days of successful work (benefits are not available for temporary position). Pay increases to $12.40/hour after successful completion of introductory period (6 months) with addition of dental benefits for full-time positions. 12 Paid holidays per year for full-time positions.
