Passage Department Supervisor

Southside Art Center has an immediate opening for an energetic, motivational, problem solving, positive, multi-tasking Passage Department Supervisor supervising our Adaptive Skills Trainers in our Roseville/Auburn Passage Departments. The Department Supervisor has the overall staff supervisory and department management responsibility for their Passage Department including department supervision and the maintenance of professional standards of practices by department staff. This position manages Passage Departments with Roseville and Auburn that support adults with developmental disabilities who have behavioral challenges (which will include adults with autism spectrum, intellectual disabilities, etc.). Most of our participants find success in our individual community based programs as opposed to larger center-based programs as we see their behaviors as opportunities to communicate rather than to extinguish. Applicants will have at least an AA/AS college degree in Behavioral Services and/or related fields (BA/BS or working towards preferred; 4-5 years experience may be substituted for college work), and should be familiar in working with people with developmental disabilities or like populations especially those who have behavioral challenges. Proven knowledge of how to supervise staff as well as work with different behavioral models while treating people with dignity and as people first is required. Ability to organize, team-build and direct are needed. Highly preferred candidates will have a familiarity with Developmental Services Field and a personal commitment to concepts of normalization, self-advocacy, supported work and integrated life; effective written and verbal communication skills; charismatic personality with ability to elicit staff respect and encourage teamwork; ability to be tactful and use good judgment when intervening in a variety of situations; ability to work as a management team member and be self-motivated; ability to be organized, prioritize tasks, and respond to job duties in a timely manner with good follow-through skills; ability to be a creative problem solver; and demonstration of a good sense of humor. Hours are 8-4, Monday through Friday. This position is an exempt 39 hour/week position starting at $2,704/month with health benefits on the first of month after 60 days of successful work. Pay increases to $2,830/month after successful completion of introductory period (6 months) with addition of dental benefits. 12 Paid holidays per year. EOE. If you are energetic and can think on your feet, Southside Art Center has openings in the PASSAGE for Adaptive Skills Trainers (ASTs) support/train adults with developmental disabilities in an individualized programs in our Sacramento/Elk Grove or Auburn/Roseville locations (program staff work between either Sacramento and Elk Grove OR Auburn and Roseville at any time). Applicants must have DMV printout and a reliable insured vehicle. Minimum 1-2 years experience with individuals with behavioral challenges preferred. Some college preferred. Knowledge of and access to computer and internet/email access required to transmit daily through yearly reporting tasks (most written tasks in this job will be done through word processing/email).
