| Who we are: Southside Ensemble started as a class for beginners. There were two classes, one in the morning, and one later in the afternoon. The class was called Music Ensemble, and it had two parts. The students from both studios would get together often and work on songs. As a group we worked on our instrument skills. Every one had their favorite instrument. Before the group was called Southside Ensemble, we wore purple and just jammed together. From our beginning as a group we played a lot of covers, and very little of our own music. We worked really hard until we finally became a band. The performances of the first band were here in the Southside building. One of their popular evening performances was for the Push America cyclists. These young men ride across the country in three or four teams. We host them here every year. Working as a collaborative, this group has performed at the People First Conferences. This year, the conference committee has asked for twenty songs, two sets of ten. We have performed for the Department of Motor Vehicles, The Very Special Arts Show, Para-Transit, Southside Auburn’s Art Barn, the New Vision Gallery, at Christmas, and on the base at Fort Franklin in San Francisco. Now we have four albums of our own original music. The first album was titled, “The Elements.” It was followed later by the second album, “Hot Fuse,” which was mostly electronic dance music. After that it was, a “World Wide All-Stars.” This was the third original released album. Number four is “Reflections,” our newest original album completed in 2010, and is available now for sale. We also have an album named “A Wild Christmas” which has holiday classic songs, with an unusual cover. |
