Adaptive Skills Trainer

Southside Art Center has an opening in their Passage Programs for Adaptive Skills Trainer's (AST) who support and train adults with developmental disabilities & behavioral challenges in a community based setting. AST's provide support with life skills, behavioral support training, job development and training, creative problem solving, and teamwork. Passage is an individualized program with positions available in our Sacramento/Elk Grove/Galt location (Passage program staff work between sites located in Sacramento, Elk Grove, and Galt) and our Auburn/Roseville locations. Qualifications:
• Be familiar in working with adults with developmental disabilities, such as Intellectual Disability, Autism, Downs Syndrome, etc.
• Be familiar working with individuals who communicate through behavioral excesses
• Applicants must have a clear DMV printout and a reliable insured vehicle which they will use to transport participants with mileage reimbursement
• Minimum 1 year experience with individuals with behavioral challenges preferred
• Some college preferred, though experience in lieu of formal education is accepted
• Knowledge of and access to computer and internet/email access required to transmit daily, weekly, and yearly reporting and paperwork

Adaptive Skills Trainers work M-F, between the hours of 8:30-4, 36 hours/week (hour each day determined by site). Position pays $14.40 per hour. Community Skills Trainer

Art Center seeks a full-time (35 hr/wk) Community Skills Trainer for its Community Volunteerism Departments in Sacramento. The Community Skills Trainer provides support and training to participants with developmental challenges. High School Diploma or equivalent required. 1 year experience working with persons with disabilities preferred. Position pays $12 per hour. Ceramics Instructor

Southside Art Center's Art Department is accepting candidates for a Lead Art Instructor: Ceramics emphasis position in our Sacramento studio. Position will focus on instructing ceramics with adults with developmental disabilities (participants). Bachelors of Art from an accredited university highly preferred but experience may be substituted with portfolio of work observed. Experience with multiple methodologies, slab construction, coil construction, throwing wheel, use of ceramic tools, and knowledge of kiln use and maintenance a plus. Experience with adults with developmental disabilities is not required. Experience teaching and willingness to motivate people to produce artwork for sale is preferred. Lead Art Instructor will work with other artists to develop curriculum and foster cooperative art with adults with developmental disabilities. Resume and portfolio of art work necessary for interview. Pay is $13.50 per hour to start with health benefits on first of month after 60 days of successful employment. Paid Time Off available after 60 days of work. Additional benefits after six months of successful employment. This is a 36 hour a week position. Hours are between Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., and from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays. Eligible candidates must pass DOJ and FBI live scan fingerprinting given by Community Care Licensing to be hired (meaning a clear record with no misdemeanors or felonies are possible as CCL is very strict). Ability to use a computer for some paperwork (word processing small daily written reports, emails, case management of files/connection with homes, and annual service plans) necessary. Hired candidates will primarily work at our Sacramento location, and on occasion in Auburn to foster a art teaching partnership with our Auburn studio or provide field experience for participants (company vehicle or mileage reimbursement would be provided if you provide a clean DMV record (no more than 3 points)). Gallery Manager

There are two located in Sacramento, and one in Auburn. This is a full time position, providing management of studio and gallery operations and oversight of Southside Art Center participants and public enrollees in structured classes and workshops, and open studio support to participating artists. B.A. or M.A. degree in Art, proficiency in visual, digital, or performing arts, marketing experience, and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Monday-Saturday, 40 hours per week; flexible schedule, non-exempt, $17-$18.50 per hour based on experience and education.


Resource Assistant

Supports Work of Art staff and participants by assisting with implementation of program objectives through ISP coordination, Job Coaching, and Client File Quality Assurance. A.A. Degree in Human Resources related field or at least 3 years’ experience in the field of developmental disabilities.Organized and systematic in doing several different tasks in a relatively short time. Physically able to provide coverage to Art staff as needed. Proficient in computer and internet use, email, scan, presenting and filing reports or other documentation. Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Monday-Saturday, 40 hrs/Week; Non-Exempt; Hours may be flexible based on business needs. $15-16 per hour.

There will be three studios, two in Sacramento, and one in Auburn.
